Sure beats the drive!
The road is closed but believe us – boating to Hopewell is the best way to get here. It’s a 30 minute run from Havelock to Hopewell, a beautiful scenic trip through the Pelorus Sound into the Kenepuru Sound.
Thanks to subsidies from our local council, the transfer cost from Havelock with our water taxi is affordable and saves 2 hours driving on winding, narrow roads.
The Hopewell Boat runs twice daily, leaving Havelock at 11.30am and 3.30pm and costs $30pp. And it returns from Hopewell to Havelock at 10.30am and 2.30pm daily. Bookings are essential. If these times don’t suit you it is easy to organise a special water taxi with Kenepuru Water Taxi or Havelock Water Taxis (rates will vary). There is safe and secured parking at the Havelock Marina, and it only costs $7 per day.
